WE THE PEOPLE / US CONSTITUTION
Norwegians have an affection for cheese. We famously here - in the land of Slartibartfast, green hydro power generation, not so green stuff energy the world still loves, high-tech defense sector industry, not much in auto industry (Troll, 1957 was slightly ahead of its time) - also eat BROWN cheese, brunost!
Like mega corporations, we like our cheese here in the fjord country. A fact, Thor Bjørklund invented the cheese slicer and patented his ostehøvel design in 1925, 3 years before the now public domain Steamboat Willie character.
Norwegians are also proud to acknowledge when we come in second place. Like our ancestor Vikingen Leif Erikson did when he realized after the bad Viking hangover subdued, on a boat! It followed on from that party. Some muppet allowed out, by his blonde wife at home, for once with his mates.
Norwegians, second place in discovering North America and we hung around for a while. However, Vikings, wine, women - was not going to sit well with the locals. Leif at least, had a clear mind of where and why when showing up in North America. In 3'rd place? That was another European, hundreds of years later, looking for India. When reminded about our 2nd place discovery of America, Amundsen springs to mind. In the collective opinion, Armstrong and his gang takes it.

The Hoarders of Cheese: Corporate Greed
The desire to keep all the cheese may seem natural, even rational, from the perspective of corporate executives. After all, more cheese means more influence, more security, and more power. But this pursuit of ever-growing profits has created a system that rewards the few. The unchecked accumulation of wealth, driven by corporate greed, is more than morally questionable; it is economically inefficient, anti-competitive, and corrosive to the long-term well-being of society.
The Cheese Game: Understanding Corporate Greed
In the modern corporate world, executives are motivated by one thing above all else: maximizing shareholder value. This drive, combined with performance-based compensation packages that heavily rely on stock prices, has given rise to a culture of corporate greed. Executives, eager to keep as much cheese for themselves and their shareholders, engage in practices that enrich the few.
Hoarding the Cheese: A Threat to Competition
In a well-functioning market, competition is the mechanism that drives efficiency, innovation, and consumer benefits. But when corporations amass vast amounts of wealth and influence, they distort the competitive landscape. This hoarding of cheese results in a situation where only a few firms dominate entire industries, stifling competition and innovation.
Consider the rise of corporate consolidation in industries ranging from technology, entertainment, fashion and pharmaceuticals. The hoarding of cheese here is not just about keeping wealth; it is about maintaining dominance and preventing the distribution of opportunity. When wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few, inequality deepens.
Sharing the Cheese: Equitable Economy
The solution is not to eliminate profits or punish success, but rather to ensure that the cheese is shared more equitably. Reforming corporate governance, rethinking the incentives that drive executive behavior, shifting away from short-term stock price gains and toward long-term value creation.
FROM 2024 THE US CONSTITUTION PROTECTS OUR SLICE OF CHEESE!
The U.S. Constitution not only guarantees certain individual rights, such as those found in the Second Amendment, but it also lays the groundwork for societal advancement through provisions like Article I, Section 8.
This section outlines the powers of Congress to promote the general welfare, including Clause 8, which grants Congress the authority to “promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts” by securing exclusive rights to authors and inventors for their writings and discoveries for limited times. This Intellectual Property Clause incentivizes creativity and innovation by offering creators the legal protection necessary to profit from their work, fostering a dynamic environment of intellectual growth.
However, the benefit to society becomes even more profound when these exclusive rights expire and the works enter the public domain. This transition opens up opportunities for everyone to build upon existing creations, whether it’s artists, entrepreneurs, or entire subcultures. For example, skateboarders and surfers, known for their unique fashion and storytelling, could repurpose public domain works - integrating iconic designs or reimagining old narratives - into fresh fashion brands or visual art that resonate with their communities.
Skaters and surfers, chilling out, enjoying their moment of friluftsliv alone or with friends, creates new stories. The MICKEY'POOHNIVERSE™. In this universe, the legends combine. Mickey has let go of the steering wheel and is off the Steamboat. Winnie is out of the Hundred Acre Wood. The new friends off to scandiland for cold water surf experience... Mickey left holding the balloon, Pooh, needing the loo. New derivative original copyright composition from public domain works, a 'Warhol' touch and a new story.
This ability to reinterpret past works allows for the constant reinvention of culture, ensuring that the ideas of the past fuel new waves of innovation and creativity, empowering people to make their own mark on the world.
